I have lived in The Hudson Valley all my life, yes I am a Valley Girl!
As the leaves change and our area draws visitors to pick the local harvest of apples, pears and pumpkins, it is a perfect time to highlight the Highland area and why I love it.
I have lived in Highland most of my life. Highland is in what I consider the perfect location. The central location of our sweet little town gives us easy access to larger areas, such as Poughkeepsie, Kingston, and Newburgh, for those that want to drive.
Equally as convenient is the walk ability in Highland. For those that enjoy walking we are  western side of the Hudson River and the western entrance to the Walkway Over the Hudson, the transformed railroad bridge, making entering Dutchess County, a walk away. Head west and the Hudson Valley Rail Trail gives access to the hamlet of Highland. I say, get off the beaten path and see the shops and local businesses.
Not to be missed is Frannie Reese Park. The winding hiking trails lead to beautiful views of the Hudson.
Highland is a small town, with community spirit and pride. It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. Dare I say, great homes on the market?
