Developers Buy Key Commercial Lot in Highland
Two development companies have purchased a key 34 acre commercial lot in Highland. The lot that was owned by Central Hudson and is across from the new Lowe's store on Rt. 299. It is also located just a short distance from the New Paltz town line.
There has been an increase in commercial projects along the Rt. 299/Main St. corridor in New Paltz and Highland. With little space left to develop along Main St. in New Paltz, developers have been eying parcels just outside of New Paltz in the Town of Lloyd.
It is likely that these developers will attempt to construct a retail center on the property. Using the poperty for retail purposes would require a change in zoning or the zoning could simply be adapted during the code revision process in Lloyd. A big-box department store could provide a very convenient option for residents who now travel to Poughkeepse, Kingston or Newburgh to do their shopping. We will pass along more information as proposals for the development come forth.
