Highland NY 12528- Investors Dream- My Dream

I have been blogging the past few days about the untapped potential for investment in my home town of Highland NY. Before Vintage Village the buildings housed, Pratt’s Lumber for many years. It was a small town lumber company where we would go to purchase lumber, hardware and paint.

I walk on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail and to the Walkway over the Hudson regularly. Anyone who passes these buildings, while on the trail, cannot help but be caught in imagination of the endless possibilities that these now vacant buildings can hold.

My favorite of the buildings is the restored 1889 sawmill. The building itself is approximately 4,500 square feet. The Twaalfskill Creek flows under building, operating a waterwheel. With frontage and access from Vineyard Avenue, this would be an amazing restaurant, retail store or offices.

Across the parking lot/driveway is a large multi-use building. It is 9,000 square feet on 2 levels. Currently there are two loading docks. I picture this as a perfect spot for a mini-mall, art center, or luxury condos. Come on, can you imagine having the beauty of the Twaalfskill Creek, and Hudson River moments from your door!

The former freight house is now used as a scooter, bicycle rental shop. This too has tremendous potential. The rentals are a great idea but the possibilities are endless.
